Rock on the Range Sculptures - Original Designs

The idea for the Rock on the Range sculpture began with the events of September 11, 2001. I was struck deeply by that lightning bolt and consequential relationship of what the events meant to not only me, but to our nation and those who served. We all came together as a force to be reckoned with.

9/11 was a confusing time in that it led to questions... How do I help? What do I do as an American?

Today, how does a nation come together in confusing times, to find a voice that leads us in the direction of how we define our America?

This design started with the confusion of 9/11 and the thunderstorm of ugliness.

I believe we are a nation built on a foundation of helping each other, looking out for each other, and propagating our individual American dream.

This sculpture is to present confusion and a patriotic symmetry. America's solution based on the rock-solid foundation of us and our understanding that we must work together in our tangled mess that is today's world.

The original designs were drawn up in 2004 and compared to the current design there have been some changes, however the original concept is still the same.
