It's neighbors helping neighbors.
My neighbor Dan asked me to fix the "kick plate" on his front porch. This area had been packed with cement that needed to be removed. Once the cement was removed damage was found. From multiple winters of salting the front porch, salt had disintegrated the "kick plate", the top step leading up to his porch. It was time to think how to resolve this situation, make it cheap, and slow the damage.
It's reality... no fix will work forever. Nothing lasts forever... but with proper maintenance you extend the life of anything.
The current solution that is being worked out according to the weather:
- Clear old patched "kick plate" concrete: Done
- Bleach and scrub front porch and prepare for weather proofing: Done
- Make a "kick plate" out of poplar, primer, paint, and install with glue and silicone: Done
- Seal front porch: Waiting for the weather to comply
The project is going well and will be completed soon. It's neighbors looking out for neighbors. I'm glad Dan asked me to help with this project... I'm stoked I can help!
