~ANT
I've struggled with this post for a long time. Since this wasn't a commission painting I took my time letting go and figuring out how to move on. Austen means a lot to me. Our conversations went from a vision of what might be, molding ANTworkstudio into what it is today. Through his consultation, advice and friendship I have been able to give more, get more, and want more from life!
Sometimes you meet someone in your life where the moments are intense, delicious, like biting from a fresh, ripe apple from the tree. You wish for that moment to last forever, but it doesn't. Eventually, sometimes to your dismay, it ends. All you have left is the core and the core is what the memories hold, where ideas are born and a place to go from. It is this core, the ideas presented, and the formation of a plan building from nothing and creating an orchard of fruit everyone wants.
Austen helped sow the seeds for the apple I now eat. From his music compositions, to videos, websites and especially my paintings, he helped mold me, and showed me not just how to work hard, but make it all mean something. Austen's music has been an inspiration and is behind a lot of ANTworkstudio's projects. At this point if you hear music, Austen has composed it.
So sometimes... painting isn't just painting. Sometimes, it's a process of dealing with the emotional framework that is life. Life isn't perfect and reality calls for imperfection. Life demands this. Austen helped prove to me that you try your best... And Then Some!... then figure out and deal with what's next. I hope one day Austen and I can once again sit down and share a meal so I can show him what he helped start and find out what's going on with him these days. One can only hope.
What's next? Stay tuned because there's more than just a core left of the apple. With only taken a couple bites from the apple, there's more savory bites left ahead.
