This idea was spawned from Maggie Thurber's blog post. I'm shocked. Thanks, I guess?

Life's a Beach in Hawaii - Painting Update!

by ~ANT

For gosh sakes I am glad this painting is due Februrary 1st! Albeit the progress is substantial, but leave no doubt... The burly nature of taking four beautiful pictures, three from small flat surfaces to one huge surface including the texture of canvas has proven to be... well... mind bending to say the least!

I'm enjoying the process... and here's some pics to bring you up to speed:

The Colors of Art - Compliments of Nature

by ~ANT --post has been edited: 12-12-2007

Sometimes nature wants us to "stop and smell the roses" and the last couple days of ice storms have been no exception. After a car trip sliding home on the icy streets of Toledo I was carefully traversing my slippery walkway and nature wasn't just asking me to pay attention... nature was screaming, "Look at me!"

Ice encased berries and branches of the statice hedge glowing as the faining light of late fall works it's way through. The yucca have little strings that peel off the sides of the leaves collecting droplets of ice dancing with each other in an attempt to stay around as long as possible. It's nature, she's saying 'hi', are you listening?

Maggie Thurber was listening to nature. See her comment and pics below.

Life's a Beach in Hawaii - Painting Update!

by ~ANT

In the series Life's a Beach in Hawaii I am painting the background colors. I started painting the three smaller pieces while I was building the large 40" x 30" and now am playing "ketchup", catching up the large piece up with the smaller three pieces. With all pieces built I continue to layer thin coats of paint adding depth with each successive layer. There are quite a few layers to go and I am satisfied with the progress.
